These new songs got me through some very personal and challenging situations in my life by allowing me to reach a place of empowerment. At first, these experiences of heartbreak, betrayal and devastation felt very close to me, only to realize in retrospect that the root of these emotions went much deeper than I originally understood. Whether it was an ex-lover that I never felt good enough for or knowing I had to find the giant inside of myself to overcome feelings of self-doubt, writing these songs helped me get to a place of acceptance. Some of the deeper themes throughout these songs are questioning social and gender norms and how those unwritten and traditional expectations have affected and continue to affect me in my own life.– ZZ WARD

IT’S A BOY! ZZ WARD ANNOUNCES ARRIVAL OF HER FIRST CHILD

After a surprise reveal of her pregnancy in her “Giant” video at the end of 2020 (watch HERE), ZZ WARD has announced the arrival of her first child with husband, award-winning songwriter, producer and music publisher Evan “Kidd” Bogart. Their son, Ezra Jack Bogart, was born on February 3rd. ZZ who was 6 months pregnant when she shot the video for “Giant” noted that she changed the storyline of the video once she found out she was expecting. Said ZZ, “I hope this video inspires women to be larger than life and embrace their full feminine beauty and power…the opportunity to experience the creation of human life is both humbling and empowering” and that attitude continues as she moves into motherhood.
ZZ is currently working on new music when she isn’t singing Ezra to sleep and perfecting her swaddling skills.

November 16, 2020 – ZZ Ward has released the video for her single “Giant” which, in a surprise ending, reveals her pregnancy as Billboard announced exclusively this morning (watch HERE.) Cleverly done with papercut stop motion, the video is a moving collage and carries the message of empowerment echoed in the song. In the video ZZ is yet again overlooked for a promotion and her frustration turns her into a fearless and badass giant, walking among skyscrapers, deflecting grenades, picking up cars, putting out wildfires all while chasing down her smarmy boss. Along the way, a blinding halo of light follows her. Redemption comes as she is now the boss and the light reveals her pregnancy.
“Giant,” is the latest of a series of new songs released by ZZ over the past 10 months including “Sex & Stardust,” “Break Her Heart” and “The Dark” which carry the theme of equal parts warrior and vulnerability delivered with her powerhouse vocals and plenty of sass.

ZZ Ward is set to release her new single, “Giant” (listen HERE) this Friday, August 28th, along with a live performance of the song shot earlier this year at the Gothic Theatre in Denver, CO. “Giant,” written by ZZ, is about empowerment and she had this to say about this anthemic track, “This song came from feeling so close to someone that their pain felt like mine, watching them get hurt over and over felt so real. This is a reminder for my friend and to anyone who needs to hear it, that you can always find the Giant inside when you feel small.”

ZZ Ward premiered her new song, “The Dark” on Good Morning Americathis morning via Facetime (watch HERE) while the official music video for same premiered on YouTube(watchHERE). The song, written by ZZ, is a pivotal song for the singer/songwriter who wrote the song last year when she felt isolated and alone – a sentiment that resonates with many these days. “When I wrote ‘The Dark’ I felt alone, betrayed and uncertain of my future. I knew I had to pick myself up and keep going but I was scared. Within a matter of days, our lives have been turned upside down by the global pandemic. ‘The Dark’ is about facing the unknown, leaving fear behind and living in hope.”
“The Dark” is one of three new songs ZZ has released since December (“Break Her Heart” and “Sex & Stardust,) and marks the first new music since her 2017 album, The Storm, which debuted #1 onBillboard’sblues chart and spun off the hit song, “Domino” ft. Fitz of Fitz and The Tantrums.

ZZ Ward released her new single, “Break Her Heart,” today (DOWNLOAD/STREAM) along with the accompanying video (WATCH). Written by ZZ, “Break Her Heart” draws from personal experience and has a modern torch song feel. Notes ZZ, “No matter how much you try to change for someone else, you can’t, because then you lose yourself.” The video for “Break Her Heart” brings the song to life with a cinematic look and a revelatory twist at the end.

ZZ Ward released her new single “Sex & Stardust” today (DOWNLOAD/STREAM), marking the first new music from the powerhouse singer and multi-instrumentalist since her 2017 album, The Storm,which debuted #1 on Billboard’s Blues chart. Produced by Dave Bassett (Elle King, Vance Joy, Bishop Briggs), ZZ had this to say about the song, “When people listen to my music, I want to make them feel something.
